It is
with the AFI that he asked for a budget to carry out a short film
named " The Gardenback ". The scenario was completely
modified to become that of Eraserhead! But before that, Lynch nevertheless
carried out 3 short films which are in the same line as its first
film.
In 1967, Six figures will be his first short. Someones will not
regard it as forming part of audio-visual medium (lasted of short:
1 mn!!). In 1968, The alphabet shows us more and more the enigmatic
side of Lynch.
This court will have a very significant technical side with the
change of format of turning (final improvement with the pencils,
pixellisation....). Hewill tests in 1968 a new camera and will carry
out for that " The amputee ", a court which lasts 5mn.
In 1970, " The grandmother " will be the starting point
for Lynch in the full-length film. This court is in fact an approach
of the Eraserhead film! That it is in the style or the sound medium.
In 1996, it is much later, when Lynch has finally a world fame,
that he will be requested to carry out a court for the 100 years
of the cinema! This court is called " Light and company ".
