Series
& tv
The cinema realizers do not remain always cloistered in this audio-visual
medium and it happens sometimes that one does not intend any more
to speak about someones... The reason of this absence can be the
preparation of short films, series or even telefilms for television.
This enables them to breath a little bit and to avoid the large
sollicitations of the productions firms.
Thus
David Lynch has much invested in this way. The televiewers will
retain of him the series worship " Twin Peaks " (1990-91)
which upset the soap opera which became well too pompous.
But
Twin Peaks is not the only joker of Lynch, as we can see with
the Figaro Magazine, for his tenth anniversary, ordering in 1988
a short film to Lynch: " The cowboy and the Frenchman ",
whose topic is " France seen by..." leaving an absolute
freedom to the realizer.
After
the success - critical and non-financial - of Twin Peaks, Lynch
tries to create a new humorous series on the concept of of television
chains in the fifties. Thus in 1992, one sees " One the air
".
He
will also make a documentary on deep America (in 1992) whose name
is " American chronicles ", as well as a telefilm with
sketches (several small stories) which is called " Hotel
room " (1993).
