Elephant man (1980)

For one period of stagnation, after the agitated output of " Eraserhead ", David Lynch made little jobs here and there. Then Stuart Cornfeld calls it. He tells him his admiration after having seen Eraserhead in Los Angeles and wants to produce a film for him.



Therefore David Lynch puts itself at the job and writing " Ronnie Rocket ", trying at any price to find an associate. They will drop this project which besides was still not turned. Lynch receives a scenario sent by a producer called Jonathan Sanger. This scenario is called: " Elephant man ". As for the old project, it is difficult to find a support but by seek they will find a certain Mel Brooks who, after the visionnage of Eraserhead, arises completely fascinated.

Lynch will go to England during one year, and will notice the tended climate of the large productions (with Eraserhead, the team of film amounted on the fingers of the hand!) Thus, like we all know, "Elephant man" becomes a film worship!

Summary of film : It is in 1884, in London that Frederick Treves (surgeon) discovers the man-elephant. Treves succeeds in bringing back John Merrick to London Hospital to make him pass from the examinations.
