Mulholland
drive (2001)
After having made a small detour with " A true story
", David Lynch returns to his good customs with his new
film " Mulholland drive". The name of its film is
that of a famous road in Hollywood.

Lynch describes it to us (in Studio February 2001) as a road "
which curves along the peak of the hills of Hollywood. It is a very
long and very old road on which are attached many, many mysterious
stories. "
The turning of this film was not gilt-edged! In fact the chains
ABC (Lynch had already made Twin Peaks for them) requires of him
to make a pilot. This one will last 1h30. But the chains did not
like: inconsistency of the scenario, unexpected disappearance of
the personages.... It is thus Canal+ which acquires the property
but imposes on Lynch to make a film with this scénario. David
Lynch says that he made again new scenes equivalent to the third
part of film. Certain rumours say that the film will form part of
the official selection in Cannes 2001. |
Synopsis: Rita has a severe accident, while going to Los Angeles
by the road " drive Mulholland ". She is the only survivor
but she becomes amnesic. Betty, coming from Australia, meets Rita
and helps her to find his identity.
